Focusing On University

Today, Wednesday May 3 our 9th grade and 11th grade students travelled to Guatemala City to a careers fair where they were able to learn more about the different university careers they can choose at the La Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala, the only public university in Guatemala.

In Guatemala students must choose a vocational or technical specialism at the High School level so when they are thinking about university they may already have an idea of which path to choose. But it is trips like this that really focus our further education students’ minds and also open them to new possibilities.

The students loved having the opportunity to visit the city with their friends and find out so much information. What they learned today will help them make important decisions about their future.

We asked four of the students to tell us what they are currently studying and what their dreams are for the future:

Further Education Careers Fair In Guatemala

Left to Right: Josué, Andrea, Elsa, Luis & Rudy.

Josué is studying Biological Sciences at High School. In his spare time he loves making things with wood and would love a career in a woodworking company.

Andrea is studying for her High School diploma. She loves talking to people and helping them and would love to work in customer services.

Elsa is studying for her High School Diploma in Computer Science. She would love to work in a technology company.

Luis is also studying for his High School Diploma in Computer Science. He would like to work in a company where he can develop his love and skill in graphic design.

Rudy is studying for his High School Diploma in Technical Drawing. He loved finding out lots of information which will help him decide what to study at University.
