Wattbike Tour de France Challenge opens for entry

We are pleased to announce that our very first Wattbike Tour de France Challenge is now open for entry.

What is it?

The Wattbike Tour de France Challenge is for your team to cycle the 192 kms of Stage 1 of this year’s Tour de France. As the world’s greatest cycle race commences, you will ride on your stationary Wattbike alongside fellow teams in the Wattbike event peleton, to see which team can complete the distance first.

What are the rules?

One bike per team, that’s it! It’s up to you how many riders you have, how long they ride for, and how many times they ride. We suggest 3-6 riders per team.

When is it?

Saturday 6th July, 11:00AM – 5:00PM approx.
(It depends how quickly you pedal to the finish line!)

Where is it?

Wattbike indoor cycle studio, National Watersports Centre, Holme Pierrepont, Nottingham.

What is provided?

One stationary bike per team from Wattbike, the world-class training and performance bike with real ride feel technology, cutting edge analysis and unrivalled accuracy.

Entry for each team will also include French-themed start line and finish line refreshments (sorry no wine!) and a set of finisher T-shirts for your team.

Can I meet a Team GB Olympic cyclist?

Yes you can!

Team GB Olympic medal-winning cyclist Bryan Steel will be on hand to give you cycling tips. Bryan took part in four Olympic Games in the Team Pursuit, winning a bronze in Sydney (2000) and a silver in Athens (2004).

Bryan Steel Olympic medals with EFTC

As well giving advice and encouragment there will be plenty of time for photo opportunities with Bryan.

Bryan says:

“The Tour de France is one of the biggest sporting events across the world so why not come along to the EFTC Tour de France challenge to celebrate the event.

"The brilliant thing about this event is that it doesn’t matter what level of fitness you are, as you can do as long or fast as you want. The main thing is you are helping your team to achieve their goal, whilst supporting young people.”

How do we enter?

Entry costs £100 per team including refreshments and T-shirts. Each team will then raise funds for EFTC’s School of Hope in Guatemala, with a minimum sponsorship target of £400. Support in setting up online fundraising pages will be provided by Education for the Children.
