Yesterday, we were delighted to host our first in-person event for two years. The weather was not kind, as Indian Summer turned to British Downpour but our hardy supporters headed for the golf course and were rewarded with a fantastic four ball competition with prizes including the annual ‘Beat The Pro’ shot. We were delighted that four players were able to drive their ball further!
After all that rain, the clubhouse was a welcome sight and players were quickly refreshed with drinks and chatting with their fellow competitors.
Being able to gather together after so long was a much needed tonic. After a hearty meal, CEO of EFTC Dave McKee presented a video direct from Guatemala which outlined the continuing effects of the pandemic and our fundraising campaign to provide our students with much needed virtual learning technology and internet access.
The event culminated with the competition prizegiving, raffle and chance to enter into an auction to win fantastic prizes from Z Hotels, concert tickets and sporting events.
Although the event was a chance to celebrate being together it was also poignant to reflect on the ongoing restrictions in Guatemala and what EFTC is doing to ensure that our students can continue to both learn and access social, nutrition and health support.
Our next event is at Lords Cricket Ground, London on Thursday 4 November. Many a famous cricketer has walked through The Long Room at Lords to enter the field of play. And you have the chance to have lunch in that most hallowed of spaces. To book a place or a table simply email email@example.com and we'll send you all the details.
