Enjoy Dinner To Your Door On 24 March

In March last year, the EFTC team got out and about delivering scrumptious dinners across Nottinghamshire to supporters who were unable to join together in person for our usual World EFTC Day event. The dinner-to-your-door event was so popular that we don’t want it to be just a Nottingham phenomenon. So, this year we’re also partnering with Daniya Stewart's Phomo to deliver delicious Pho to supporters across the UK.

Priced at £20 per person, households across the UK can enjoy a freshly prepared dinner which includes a donation to support our students.

We caught up with owner Daniya Stewart who founded Phomo when she moved away from London and could no longer find a source of her beloved Pho locally. Now she serves up meals to customers across the country - direct to their doors. We asked her about her foodie inspirations.

Hi Daniya - thank you so much for partnering with Education For The Children on our deliver-to-your-door event. We'd love to find out about your inspiration so here goes!

What is your favourite Vietnamese dish?

Pho of course! The delicious broth with rice noodles and fresh crunchy herbs is an amazing combination.

What is your favorite ever dish that you can prepare and serve in 20 minutes?

A chicken and mushroom risotto

What is your favorite ever restaurant and what did you eat there?

We went to a restaurant in Mallorca where had their famous lobster stew overlooking the sea. It was delicious but it was the setting and experiencing a new food which made it so memorable

What is your best tip to eat healthily without compromising on flavour?

There are so many things you can do to add flavour and eat healthily. For example, cooking cous cous in chicken or vegetable stock immediately makes it taste better. You can then add some simple grilled chicken or fish and drizzle with olive oil mixed with lemon juice and fresh herbs and a salad.

Who is your favorite TV chef?

I loved when James Martin did Saturday Kitchen, he had a great way of interacting with chefs to show us different cuisines and cooking styles whilst throwing in handy kitchen tips. We are now watching Junior Bake Off as family and we love Rav!

What is your favourite comfort food?

Chocolate biscuits – I don’t let myself buy them as the whole packet will be gone in a day.

Where is the most foodie inspirational place you have ever visited? Why?

San Sebastian in Northern Spain, every café or bar you go into has a counter with small plates of food on and you can bar hop and eat 1 or 2 in each place. It’s the perfect combination of eating and socializing.

Thanks Daniya. We look forward to tasting the delicious Phomo on Thursday 24 March.

Event guests will also have the option to join their fellow diners online, take a peek behind the scenes in Guatemala and join in a raffle.

Daniya is generously giving her time and has worked to keep costs down to help fund education, nutritional and social programmes in Guatemala. Place your order by 18th March and get dinner-to-your-door on Thursday 24 March. Any questions about the event please email or call EFTC on 0115 958 4876.
