EFTC would like to thank Catherine Pilling, Head of Spanish at Nottingham Girls High School and long time supporter of EFTC who completed the National 3 Peaks Challenge last week to raise money for the School of Hope.
The National Three Peaks Challenge involves climbing the three highest peaks of Scotland, England and Wales - Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon. The total walking distance is 23 miles (37km) and the total ascent is a staggering 3064 metres (10,052ft). Catherine managed to complete this mega challenge in an amazing 23 hours and 38 minutes!
Catherine plans to put the funds raised from her challenge towards becoming a class sponsor with her spanish class at the Nottingham Girls High School. She has been working with her students to plan some more exciting fundraising events for the next academic school year.
Her Spanish class in the UK will link with the sponsored class at the School of Hope in Guatemala. The students will receive regular updates from one another and exchange emails, letters video clips and live Skype calls. This opportunity will be an invaluable learning experience for both the students in the UK and the students in Guatemala. They will be able to practise their language skills with native speakers of a similar age on the other side of the globe and learn about each other’s different cultures and traditions.
EFTC can’t wait to hear all about it!
