Why not hold a fundraising event of your own? We'd love to help you organise your event and we can provide you with posters, sponsorship forms, a justgiving website and ideas for challenges. For some fundraising ideas click hereCall Amy or Emma on 0115 958 48 76 for a helping hand.Sandra MatzIn June 2009, Sandra Matz volunteered for a couple of weeks at our project in Guatemala and was so taken with the children she decided to go home and try and raise some money. Sandra, who is a psychology student, visited a school over in Germany (Markgräfler Gymnasium Müllheim) and along with 14 students; held a lottery, walked through their local town collecting money and also sold cakes!! Whilst over in Guatemala Sandra also bought a few bags, bookmarks, balls etc from the local Antigua market and sold these and has since donated a total of €1300 to EFTC!!
Kevin McMenamin's Coast to Coast Bike RideCharity Trustee 'Kev Mac' completed an arduous 3 day bicycle journey across the UK to raise much needed funds for the charity in June 2009. This was a massive challenge and we can't thank Kevin enough for taking this on. Click here for more information on Kevin's challenge.
Nikki McKay's Arts EveningEFTC supporter and local artist Nikki McKay showcased her most recent paintings at Newark Town Hall and provided an evening of live dance performance and live music on June 18th. One of Nikki's fabulous paintings was auctioned on the night and the proceeds went to EFTC. Thanks Nikki!
Laura Bunt & Iain Macrury tie the knot...Laura Bunt has been helping EFTC with translating some of our children's letters for the last 6 months. Laura and Iain, instead of having a wedding gift list have very kindly asked for donations to EFTC. They got married on Saturday, the 22nd of August 2009 at Achnargairn House, a stunning Victorian-era mansion in the Scottish Highlands. For more information click on the link below; http://iainandlaura.com/index.cfm?fa=gift Our heartfelt thanks go to Laura and Iain for this incredibly generous gesture and we wish them all happiness in the world for their future together. Keith Berry's Annual 10k RunKeith Berry successfully ran the Whitstable 10k again this year and raised £550 for EFTC.
Keith's time of 56 minutes was two minutes faster than last year!! Keith said "from the photo which was taken near the end, you can see what an effort it was and I might consider organising a golf day next year instead! I trained especially hard this year and was determined to beat both the time and the £400 raised in 2008. All through the training I had it in my mind that the work Education For The Children does makes such a difference to lives that I just had to keep going.”
Keith along with his church group, St Alphege Seasalter, are huge supporters of the charity. They sponsor 2 children and are also hoping to visit Guatemala in October this year! Thank you again to Keith for all his support & well done on completing another 10k!!!!
Helen's Fundraising DinnerHelen Malanaphy got involved with the Foundation when she visited the project as a long term volunteer in September 2008. Helen has been a passionate supporter and fundraiser ever since! On Sunday 26th April Helen organised a fundraising dinner at the fantastic Marloes Restaurant in Newcastle under Lyme, near Stoke on Trent. All of the staff worked for free, while Helen, her brother Paul (Head Chef at Marloes) and his wife Claire (Head of Marloes Restaurant) paid for the food out of their own pockets... the guests all paid full price for a delicious 3 course Christmas style dinner and all of the money went directly to the charity. This was a brilliant effort and raised a huge £813.50 for the Foundation. Thank you to Helen, Paul, Claire, Ann, Ben, Natalie and Fran for all their hard work.

Raúl's Birthday BashIt was Raúl Webb's 1st birthday party on 13th September 2008 and his parents Richard and Mandy Webb asked his guests to donate to EFTC instead of buying him birthday presents. We loved this idea! The money from Raúl's birthday guests is still coming in and we can't thank the Webb's enough for their generosity. Happy Birthday Raúl and thanks for helping the children of Guatemala.
Jason's MarathonOn Sunday 14th September 2008 Jason Campbell ran the Nottingham Half Marathon for the second year running. This time he raised over £600! Well done Jason!
The Big Ben Nevis ChallengeOn May 25th 2008 Amy Holly, Christine Holly and Dan McKay embarked on a trek up Ben Nevis to raise money for EFTC. The group travelled up to Ben Nevis, in the North West of Scotland due to its fame as the UK’s highest mountain. With great weather, determination, and no expertise whatsoever, they reached the 1344 metre summit after around five hours of hiking. After three and a half more hours to get back down, the Ben Nevis Inn was a welcome sight, and the whisky was well deserved. The group raised a brilliant £700.
Keith's 10k RunKeith Berry successfully ran the Whitstable 10k run this year and raised nearly £400 Well done Keith!
The Tour de France ChallengeOn June 28th 2007 four mad fools left Nottingham to ride the entire route of the 2007 Tour de France in the same number of days as the professionals. Matt Denman, Mark Wakeling, Amy Smith & Kyle Yost all cycled over 2000 miles in 3 weeks. On Sunday 22nd July Letour2007 was completed safely and no failed doping controls, missed tests or any other form of suspicion swirling around the riders. They almost certainly would have failed tests for excessive levels of fresh baguette sandwiches, pain-au-chocolate and coke, but luckily the UCI don't test for these yet!! Matt and Mark between them managed to raise £10,715 for Education For The Children, you can read all about their efforts by clicking on the picture below. |
