During difficult economic times, the Guatemalan children already living in extreme poverty are the most vulnerable.
- Guatemala has the highest rate of child malnutrition in the Americas, ahead of Haiti
- Half of Guatemala’s 14 million people live in extreme poverty
- Guatemala had the lowest literacy rate in Latin America
We now have a way to personally help these children through a new, just launched US non-profit based in Walnut Creek - - Education for the Children - USA!
Its mission is to provide Guatemalan children born into extreme poverty hope for a future through education, nutritious food and clean water, health care and counseling. Extremely financial efficient, 98% of donations go directly to programs that benefit the kids. Our goal for this first year is to raise the money to enroll 50 children in a new kindergarten class.
I know these are uncertain economic times but most of us do have hope for a brighter future. Education for the Children - USA supports the poorest of the poor children in Guatemala nurture their own hopes through education.
There is a long waiting list of children desperate to attend EFTC’s school. Our dream is to help them beat the odds.
The holidays are a great time for perspective, appreciation, and to make a difference for those not as fortunate. Please join others who care, share a glass of wine and help celebrate this special milestone.
