Tommy Johnson Education for The Children Charity Dinner Dance - Friday 13th November 2009 Hilton Hotel East Midlands Airport

The annual East Midlands Ball took place on Friday 13th November and 170 guests joined Tommy Johnson and the EFTC team for another brilliant fundraising event.

We were joined by several special guests- Sven Goran Eriksson and Peter Trembling among many others from Notts County Football Club came along to support Tommy and the charity. We were also joined by John Barnwell, Mark Draper, and we were treated to performances from a cabaret dance company and footballing trickster Colin Nell.

Along with the Celebs, we were delighted to see so many familiar faces- dedicated supporters of the Charity came back to help us raise money for Guatemala once again. We hope you all had a great night and we are delighted to announce that we raised around £10,000.

Tommy Johnson Dinner, Celtic Park - Sunday October 4th 2009

Retired footballer Tommy Johnson hosted his first ever Celtic dinner in aid of Education For The Children Foundation.  Guests on the evening included Neil Lennon, Johan Mjallby, Jackie McNamara, Simon Donnelly and Darren Jackson.  The 'old' Celtic boys all got up for a game of 'keepy Upies', Tommy was the first out which amused his football buddies!!  We raised approximately £10,000 on the night which includes the very generous donation from The Celtic Charity Fund.  Huge thanks go to Laura Williams, Michael Church and everyone at Celtic for helping us organise such a special evening.

Harley Bike Ride - Sunday 9th August 2009

Shaun took part in his third annual Harley Bike Ride on Sunday 9th August.  Loyal supporters Wayne Bridge and Steve Sidwell joined Shaun amongst various other TV celebs.  The bike ride was a huge success and created lots of interest from the press - click here to see photos

T in the Park - Friday 10th July - 12th July 2009

EFTC are incredibly lucky to be supported by T in the Park organisers Geoff Ellis and Sandy Reid.

Sandy has supported the Foundation since he spent several months volunteering at the project in Guatemala in 2008. Thanks to Sandy and Geoff the charity spent 3 days fundraising and spreading the word at this brilliant festival in Scotland. We raised over £1000 from our stall and our raffle and we've got loads of new people involved in our work.

Man City v Bolton Bucket Collection - Sunday 24th May 2009

On Sunday 24th May 62 volunteers turned out to help us collect money at Man City's football ground.  It was a gorgeous day and thanks to our fabulous bucket shakers we raised a brilliant £3,979.23!!!

We were also lucky enough to get....€7.77, $0.61, an old 5 pence piece, some used chewing gum, a watch battery, a bit of a pie, and a red fingernail….how lovely!!!

We also raised a couple of hundred pounds from the text message raffle- this took the total raised on the day to £4,235.17!!

Thank you so much to everyone who helped out, we couldn't have done it without all your support.  Man City told us that the average collection raises about £2,000… so we doubled that which is fantastic!!!

This money will go a long way to help the children in Guatemala- it will go into our general budget which will pay for things like food, teachers salaries, rent at our schools and medical supplies as and when they are needed. Thanks to your fundraising our children will get a chance to break out of the poverty cycle for good.

EFTC May Day 5k - Monday 4th May 2009

On Monday 4th May two teams braved the rain and took part in our first ever 5k run; a group in London as well as the local supporters in Nottingham.

We asked all of our supporters to run, walk, or cycle 5k to help us raise money for Guatemala. We all had great fun (especially laughing at the charity teams outfits!!)...thanks again to everyone who turned out in the rain to support us!!

We raised in the region of £3,000!!!
