"Our vision is to offer children born into poverty the opportunity to build a brighter future through full access to education"

So you want to get involved?

That's great news! There are countless ways in which you can raise money for EFTC and this is the best place to start.

None of us can escape the credit crunch - especially charities like EFTC.  Fundraising has become harder and harder; people aren't able to give as much due to the recession.

This means we are pulling out all the stops, doing more fundraising events and asking more people to help us.  If you think you can help then please please let us know.

Eat for EFTC

Invite some friends over for dinner and help us raise the extra funds needed to feed and clothe the children currently living in our safehouse.

Our safe house provides a safe and secure environment for children who have suffered everything from abuse and severe neglect to ill health and desertion.  The house is run by a wonderful mum, Yessenia, whose son Cristian was diagnosed with cancer in 2007 and the family desperately needed to move to safe and warm conditions.

To help us raise enough money to care for these deserving children, we are asking everyone to Eat for EFTC!!

  • Throw a series of Come Dine With Me style dinner parties
  • Ask your guests to donate what they would normally spend on a restaurant meal, or a minimum of £10
  • Give the proceeds to EFTC

If you are interested drop an email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and we will send you a pack which includes worry dolls for your guests to take home, some simple Guatemalan recipes for you to use and some information on how your guests donations will be used.

By holding a dinner party you will be helping to provide for some of the most vulnerable of children.

Collect mobile phones

It's easy, it's green and it won't cost anyone a penny....

Please please please collect old mobile phones for us!  Just one old mobile phone could potentially pay to feed a class of 25 children for a whole day!  We want to collect hundreds of mobile phones which will be recycled or sold on in developing countries, they don't even have to be in working condition.  We know that nearly everyone has a phone or two tucked away somewhere at home- so let's get collecting!

City Lit, the centre for Adult Learning in London, has raised over £1000 thanks to their ongoing support of this campaign. A big thank you goes out to Sabine Pitcher and each and every donor.

Buy our birthday gifts

Why not donate money to EFTC instead of buying your loved ones another bottle of bubble bath!

We'll send you a special card to pass on to them which explains how your money has been spent on children who are in the greatest need of help.

Click here to see how far your money will go. Some of our generous supporters have even requested that their wedding guests make a donation to EFTC instead of buying them wedding presents.

Challenge yourself

Think  of something you enjoy and can try to give up, such as smoking, alcohol, chocolate or even Facebook! Make it hard– then you can ask for more!

Stay motivated by asking for donations per hour or day of your challenge.

Hold a car boot sale- or come to ours!

The Charity team have been to various car boot sales, taking clothes, ornaments, CDs and books to raise money.  Thanks to everyone who have donated items for us to sell, and thank you to those who manned the stalls.  We will probably be arranging another one so if you want to bring in some old bits and bobs, then please get in touch.

Ebay

Don't fancy getting up early on a Sunday morning to do a car bootsale? Then why not declutter your house and get rid of your unwanted items on Ebay? One of our supporters has raised over £1,000 for EFTC in just 3 months by selling items for us on Ebay! This dedicated fundraiser asked her friends and family to donate clothing and other items for sale then donated all proceeds to the Foundation. If you tell people about the great cause they will be helping, they might even donate more!

Find us new sponsors

Our sponsors keep our project stable by providing us with 'guaranteed' funds coming in every month.  If you think you might know someone who would be interested then please tell them about us.  We can send you some sponsorship forms and more information about EFTC to help you on your quest.

Click here for more information on sponsoring a child.

Hold a coffee morning, or a wine tasting evening!

We can provide you with some local Guatemalan coffee so that you can sell coffee and cake to your friends and colleagues.  Even small events like this will all add up - if you think you could raise £20 with a coffee morning then we want to hear from you! Or if you would like to hold a wine tasting evening for friends and family, get in touch and we can recommend some great Central American wines!

Ask your school to help

EFTC are trying to get as many schools involved in our project as possible.  A school can very easily hold a non-uniform day, a coffee morning or simply collect mobile phones.  If you have connections with a local school, or if you have children at Primary or High School, please ask your school to raise money for us this year!  The Charity Team would also be happy to give an assembly or presentation at any school within the UK.

Organise a fun run!

The Charity team hold an annual fun run on May Bank Holiday - and you can hold your own too!

Climb some volcanoes...

For a super challenge, combined with a visit to our project then how about joining us for our Big Volcano Challenge in January 2012.  This will be the third time the challenge has taken place and we would like to take more people this time!  The challenge is to climb 3 of Guatemala's enormous volcanoes!  It will take 3 days and will involve camping on the side of active volcanoes, hiking to altitudes above 3000 metres, and trekking for up to 12 hours per day!!  It's an amazing trip - a life changing experience and a chance to raise much needed funds for EFTC.  We hope that each member of the team will be able to raise at least £2,000 in sponsorship.  To read about the 2010 Volcano Trip click here.

...Or take on the 3 Peaks Challenge!

Our first 3 Peaks Challenge in August 2011 saw a team of nine fundraisers climb the 3 highest peaks in the UK in just 27.5 hours, raising over £3,800 for EFTC! We are already planning next year's Challenge for early summer 2012. Dress up, or dress down..and other ideas for fundraising at work

Your office can be a great place to fundraise for EFTC. You could arrange a dress up or dress down day and charge your colleagues, or bring in cakes and biscuits to sell at lunchtime.

Have a kick-about..

Why not hold a five-a-side or a netball tournament and get your friends and family involved? You could charge each player a small fee to take part. Or why not hold a darts or pool competition in your local pub?
