Why not support EFTC's Food programme this Easter?
This Easter you could buy a chocolate egg or you could feed ten children living in poverty for a day (of course we have no objection to you doing both!). We have Easter cards, beautifully designed by the children of our school in Guatemala, in the office for you to give to your loved ones.
Donations we receive for the cards will go towards our food programme. Without this programme many of our children would have to go to work or beg on the streets to earn enough to eat. We suggest a minimum donation of £5, which will feed ten children for a day.
The donation can be made on our Justgiving page - http://www.justgiving.com/eftceaster.
Once you have made your donation, send an email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it with your contact details and the card will be posted to you. Thank you.

Semana Santa (Holy Week) is celebrated fervently in Guatemala. It starts on Palm Sunday and ends a week later on Easter Sunday, the Day of Resurrection. The festivies' focus is processions around the streets that last for up to 15 hours each day. Members of the church carry, on their shoulders, a huge table-top-like structure with a scene from Jesus' last week depicted on top. Before the processions start, people make beautiful alfombras (carpets) on the street outside their homes, using coloured sand, pine needles, flowers and fruit. Some are as long as 10 metres! Then, when the procession passes by, the alfombras are trampled over and a mad dash ensues to gather any items of worth used to make the alfombra.
Here are some examples of alfombras from Easter 2010:
