Help us!

So you want to help us raise money?

That's great news! There are countless ways in which you can raise money for EFTC and this is the best place to start.

None of us can escape the credit crunch- especially charities like EFTC.

2009 was a tough year for the charity but we are optimistic about 2010...

This means we are pulling out all the stops, doing more fundraising events and asking more people to help us. If you think you can help then please please let us know.

Eat for EFTC

Invite some friends over for dinner and help us raise the extra funds needed to help the new residents of our safehouse.

We have had to provide emergency shelter for a little girl who had been abused by her stepfather.  We have also offered to take in a family of 4 boys whose mother was murdered in late August.

To help us raise enough money to care for these deserving children, we are asking everyone to Eat for EFTC!!
  • Throw a dinner party

  • Charge each of your guests £10 (or whatever you think your guests can afford to give)

  • Give the proceeds to EFTC

If you are interested drop an email to enquiries@eftc.org.uk and we will send you a pack which includes worry dolls for your guests to take home, some simple Guatemalan recipes for you to use and some information on how your guests donations will be used.

By holding a dinner party you will be helping to provide for some of the most vulnerable of children.

Buy our birthday gifts

Why not donate money to EFTC instead of buying your loved ones another bottle of bubble bath!

We'll send you a special card to pass on to them which explains how your money has been spent on children who are in the greatest need of help.  Click here to see how far your money will go.

Shop on-line

We are pleased to announce that we now have an online shop! http://eftc.ethictrade.com/

EFTC has teamed up with EthicTrade to bring you a brand new online shop. You’ll find everything from clothes and accessories to homeware and toys, and the best part is that 20%* of the money generated by your purchases comes straight to EFTC, providing vital funds to help us continue in educating some of Guatemala's poorest children.  EthicTrade is committed to ensuring that the products you buy have been ethically produced and fairly traded, and never buys from producers who exploit their workers, pay unfair wages or use child labour.

The products you’ll find in our new online shop are high quality, reasonably priced and we’re confident will cater to your every taste, so check it out now at http://eftc.ethictrade.com/ and every purchase you make will help our project to grow.

Find us new sponsors

Our sponsors keep our project stable as we know we have 'guaranteed' funds coming in every month. If you think you might know someone who would be interested then please tell them about us. We can send you some sponsorship forms and more information about our charity to help you on your quest.  Click here for more info on sponsorship.

Hold a car boot sale- or come to ours!

It's Spring... and time for a clear out! The Charity team went to Colwick Car Boot sale on March 15th 2009 and took clothes, ornaments, CDs and books and raised £372.34 in just a few hours! Thanks to everyone that donated items for us to sell, and thank you to those who manned the stalls. We will probably be arranging another one so if you want to bring in some old bits and bobs then please get in touch.

Collect Mobile Phones

"If each of our supporters collected just 5 mobile phones, we could feed our 428 children for the whole year."

It's easy, it's green and it won't cost anyone a penny....

Please please please collect old mobile phones for us! Just one old mobile phone can pay to feed a class of 25 children for a whole day! We want to collect hundreds of mobile phones in 2009 which will be recycled or sold on in developing countries. They don't even have to be in working condition. We know that nearly everyone has a phone or two tucked away somewhere at home- so let's get collecting!

In 2009 we raised around £400 from people donating their old mobile phones and we still have lots more phones in the office that havent been sent off yet!!  This is such a great way for us to raise much needed funds so please keep sending us your old phones!

Hold a coffee morning

We can provide you with some local Guatemalan coffee so that you can sell coffee and cake to your friends and colleagues. Even small events like this will all add up- if you think you could raise £20 with a coffee morning then we want to hear from you!

Ask your school to help

In 2009 we have involved lots of schools in our project! A school can very easily hold a 'No Uniform Day' and raise money for our cause- or could collect those mobile phones for us. If you have connections with a local school, or if you have children at Primary or High School, please ask your school to raise money for us! The Charity Team would also be happy to give an assembly or presentation at any school within the UK.

Organise a Fun Run!

The Charity team will be holding another fun run on May Bank Holiday 2010 - and you can hold your own too!

Climb some volcanoes...

For a super challenge, combined with a visit to our project then how about joining us for our Big Volcano Challenge in January 2010. A group of 11 people are making their way to Guatemala where they will climb 3 of Guatemala's enormous volcanoes! The challenge will take 3 days and will involve camping on the side of active volcanoes, hiking to altitudes above 3000 metres, and trekking for up to 12 hours per day!! It will be an amazing trip- a life changing experience and a chance to raise much needed funds for the Charity. We hope that each member of the team will be able to raise £2000 - £10,000 in sponsorship.  For more information click here
